Doomsday prophets warn 'time is short' and say 'end of world is coming'
Two Holy Temples of Jerusalem once stood on the Temple Mount, a revered place of worship. Both were destroyed - initially by the Babylonians and subsequently by the Romans.
However, according to some biblical doomsday believers, if a third temple were ever constructed, it would signal the end of the world and the return of Christ.
The claims come from conspiracy theory site Sign Posts of the Times, which contends that building the Third Temple will usher in the Antichrist's appearance. It comes as Isaac Newton's 1704 doomsday prophecy predicting the year the world would end was revealed.
Following this, Jesus Christ will return to Earth where he will trigger the apocalypse and judge mankind for their sins, the blog asserts.
The blog's authors cite several Biblical verses which they believe validate their theories, reports the Daily Star.
The first is John 5:43 NIV which reads: "I have come in my Father's name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him."
Thessalonians 2:4 NIV said: "He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshipped, so that he sets himself up in God's temple, proclaiming himself to be God."
John 2:2 NIV said: "He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world."
In light of 2020's events, including the coronavirus pandemic and wildfires that ravaged portions of the southwestern US and Australia, Sign Posts of the Times' authors believe the end times are approaching.
The blog reads: "As for the future Temple, we know from scripture that there must be a Tribulation Temple, (the Third Temple), on the heights of Mount Moriah, in which this future Man of Sin will enter to declare himself to be God or the Messiah, (false Christ), the world has been waiting for.
"Time is very short. Events could play our quicker and sooner than one can imagine (Just look at all that has taken place in the year 2020 and we aren't even done yet with this eventful year).
"Are you ready for Christ's return? Are you ready to meet the Son of the Living God, the true Messiah, the one who has paid the penalty for the sins of the world?".
"We pray you are ready to meet the Lord in the air. Let that be your hope in these crazy days we now live in."
That said, there's no need for alarm - scientists would universally agree that the apocalypse is not on the horizon, and doomsday predictions have been a recurring theme for centuries, none of which have ever proven accurate.
Time and Date pointed out: "The end of the world is near-again! For centuries, doomsdayers have prophesied the apocalypse.
"But there's a tiny catch: None of the end-of-world predictions ever come true." Meanwhile, humanity was given 'catastrophic' news from a 'time traveler' from the year 6491.
